Festival Fashion

No festivals for me this year! Too bad because now the festival season is coming up I have caught the bug. In Belgium we have quite a few really good festivals, Tomorrowland is without a doubt the most well known, being sold out in a matter of minutes. Other festivals around here are Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Dour, Les Ardents and many more. If you're one of the lucky ticket holders, you wil soon be of partying, and of course in style. With pieces from Asos, NewLook and Jane and Joe.

You can't sit with us!

One of my all time favourite girly movies is Mean Girls. I must have seen it for the first time when I was about 14 years old and was instantly obsessed! I must have watched it about a 100 times and I'm stil not sick of it. So when I saw the "You can't sit with us" tshirt I had to have it and when I went to London, I went to River Island to get it but they were all sold out. (But I did find a "you can't sit with us" purse in TopShop.) 

Last week while I was walking along the coast in my hometown of Blankenberg, I was so happy when I stumbled across the tshirt I wanted for only €10! The quote is from when Regina is rejected from sitting at her table because she was violating a fashion rule she made up herself.

Style Me Up! Hair Chalk review

A few weeks ago I got this hair chalk at work and thought I would try it out, it was only about €3 so it wouldn't be the end of the world if it didn't work. Bare in mind I work at a toy shop, I already half expected it not to work. 

First impression:

A bright and happy packaging, obviously intended for children, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, at least you know it can't be bad for you. I went for the bright pink one.

How it went:

After reading the instructions, I firstly selected the hair I wanted to color pink and sprayed it with hair spray, then I applied the chalk with the sponge. I used many layers wanting to turn my lock of hair bright pink.

Conclusion:

I love the idea of temporally colouring my hair and I'm sure their's a product out there that will do this, but it's not this one. I have dark hair so the pink was hard to see anyway and after a few hours 

it had disappeared all together!

Fun for kids indeed, but not for me.

My week in pictures

Last week started with Niki and I giving my friend Jamie her late birthday gift. Niki came up with the great idea of ordering a bottle of Crystal Head Vodka , which isn't available in Belgium (at least not in the shops). 

Jamie loves making cocktails and has started a small collection of cool bottles like this. 

I love the idea that the vodka's bottle is inspired by the legend of the crystal skulls .

Needless to say, she loved it!

On wednesday I bought some new nail varnish and decided to try it out in combination with Gellish.

But because the causality of the varnish was so bad, it looked great to start with but  now, 5 days later it doesn't look that great anymore :( too bad. But no worries, I ordered to new Gellish color's last week and one of them is similar to the blue varnish.

On thursday my boyfriend came home early from work to surprise me with beautiful roses! Honestly, they are really the most beautiful flowers I've ever had. Love love love them.

And the rest of my week? I it spent worshiping the sun. We've been really lucky with the weather so far this year in Belgium. A not too cold winter, no snow, no ice, only a few big storms, an early spring and lots and lots of sun. Got to love it!

L'Oreal Paris Nude Magique Eau De Teint Foundation

Today I will be reviewing Nude Magique Eau De Teint Foundation which is supposed to a new ‘breed’ of foundation and claimes to be a revolution in foundation and lighter than water.

A while back when I was browsing the make up isle, I saw this new Eau De Teint Foundation and  had remembered reading about it on beautygloss.nl and wanting to try it.

First impression:

The glass bottle reminded me of, and is to be used as a perfume bottle, just place your finger tip over the opening and tip. As it’s such a light formula I wasn’t sure what the coverage would be like. Looking at the ingredients I saw that this product contains silicons,which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for me, but it has been known to make some people brake out. 

How it went:

With it’s light silky soft texture, instantly blending over the skin with ease , it feels as if you’re not wearing any make up at all. You only need a tiny amount to get a light, even layer. It gives me a natural look without giving me shiny skin. It took some getting used to the texture and the feel of it, as it’s so different to any other foundations I’ve tried.

Conclusion:

I’m really pleased with the results. I never used to wear foundation because I could never get the coverage right, but this one is so easy in use and feels real natural.

Maybelline Superstay 14h: Tried and Tested review

I love lipstick , especially darker shades of red, which is a bit of tricky thing to wear. It smudges, or get's on your teeth, making having a pocket mirror with you at all times essential. So when I spotted this 14h superstay lipstick, I had to give it a go. I chose the Lasting chestnut lipstick and a gloss , I think it was Forevel Coral. Over time I've seen a few lipsticks making such promises as this one, but never one claiming to stay 14h!

For this test I took a pic every hour. I start my day having breakfast and after that I do my make up, no different today and after applying the lipstick I put it away so I wouldn't be tempted to reapply it. Whilst wearing the lipstick I had to sandwiches for lunch and after that I left for a BBQ at a friends house. There I had baguettes, sausages, ribs, the works and some wine, all the while wearing the lipstick.

First impression:

When I was in the shop, I tried it on my hand first and even after washing my hands a few times you could still see the lipstick. This was a good omen for me. The colours are vibrant and plenty to chose from. I wasn't so sure about the look of the lipstick, a very plain white packaging with silver writing, I'm sure that after spending some time in my purse the packaging won't look so great! But here's the thing that got me all excited, the smell! I love the smell after I bought it I was making everybody smell my lipstick because it's just so great!

How it went:

The lipstick is easily applied and isn't too dry and doesn't turn flakey . As you can see on the hour-by-hour picture it does stay the full 14h but could use an extra application midday. Which is great considering the BBQ I had with the lipstick on. Towards the end of the day I got a bit bored and lazy with taking the pictures ( that's why the quality isn't that great) . Since buying this lipstick I've been on a night out in town wearing it and got into bed without removing my make up and woke up with panda-eye's but my lipstick was perfectly intact!

Conclusion:

I really love this lipstick and I have nothing in my collection that compares to it. I lost the Superstay gloss a few days after buying (still really cross with myself for that, who loses lipgloss?!) and never got to test it. But if it does turn up somewhere at some point I'll be sure to make a review about that one too. Will have to buy more shades. 

June has begun!! A few days late I know but here it is. 

June is know, amongst other things, as the month of the rose, which is symbolises love, beauty, war and politics and remains our most desired flower.I think this is the perfect excuse to buy a bouquet of roses or treat yourself to some rose themed products.
